What to Prepare for a Korean Aesthetic Clinic Consultation | Rappoel Checklist 2026

Why Is the Pre-Treatment Consultation So Important?

The consultation is the most critical step in any aesthetic treatment journey. A thorough consultation allows the physician to fully understand your needs and conditions, create a personalized treatment plan, and set realistic expectations about results, risks, and recovery. At Rappoel Dermatology Clinic, all consultations are conducted directly by the clinic director—never delegated to sales staff or assistants.

Consultations at Rappoel are complimentary. The director provides honest, professional advice—including telling you which treatments are NOT suitable for your situation.

Preparation: 1 Week Before

📸 Take Bare-Face Photos

Five angles: front, left 45°, right 45°, left profile, right profile. Use natural light (near a window), no makeup, hair tied back, and no filters. These help the director assess your facial structure in advance.

📋 Document Your Aesthetic History

List every treatment you’ve had before: what procedure, what brand/product, when it was done, and how much was used. If you’ve had fillers or threads at other clinics, this information is essential.

💊 List Current Medications & Supplements

Include prescription drugs, supplements, and herbal medicines. Be especially aware of: aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo biloba, and NSAIDs—these increase bleeding risk and may need to be stopped before treatment.

Preparation: On the Day

  • Arrive bare-faced:No makeup, or only sunscreen. The director needs to see your true skin condition
  • Wear easily removable tops:Some consultations may require examining the neck or shoulder area
  • Have your photos ready:Show them on your phone for the director’s reference
  • Prepare your questions:Write them in your phone’s notes so you don’t forget under pressure
  • Arrive 10 minutes early:To fill in the basic information form

Must-Disclose Medical Information

  • Any history of drug or food allergies
  • Current pregnancy or breastfeeding status
  • Autoimmune diseases, diabetes, or other chronic conditions
  • Previous adverse reactions to fillers (allergy, nodules, vascular events)
  • Prior facial surgeries (including dental procedures like implants)
  • Plans for pregnancy in the near future

How to Communicate Your Goals Effectively

Many patients struggle to describe what they want during a consultation. These tips will help:

❌ Don’t just say “I want to look better”

Too vague. The director cannot determine your specific expectations from “better.”

✅ Describe your specific concerns

“My nasolabial folds make me look older than I am” or “My jawline lacks definition” or “My cheeks look tired and saggy”—the more specific, the better.

✅ Bring reference photos

Find an image showing a result you like (celebrity, influencer, or your own younger self). Tell the director “I like this kind of result.” Note: references are for communicating style, not for requesting an exact copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book a consultation at Rappoel in advance?
Advance booking is recommended to ensure the director has adequate time for your consultation. Contact us via WeChat or LINE to schedule.
How long does a consultation take?
Typically 30–60 minutes. If you’re considering multiple treatments or combination protocols, allow more time. We suggest budgeting 1–1.5 hours.
Can I get treatment on the same day as my consultation?
Most injection-based treatments (filler, Botox, skin boosters) can be done the same day. Device-based treatments (Thermage, Ultherapy) require a separate appointment. The director will advise based on your situation.
Will there be a language barrier for international patients?
Rappoel provides Chinese and English consultation services with dedicated staff to assist with translation. Communication is not an issue.
What identification do I need?
Just a passport or ID card for filling in the basic registration form.
Can I just do the consultation without getting any treatment?
Absolutely. Consultations are free and there is zero obligation to proceed with any treatment on the same day. We encourage patients to take time to consider before deciding.
