What Not to Eat After Korean Aesthetic Treatments | Rappoel Diet Guide 2026

Why Does Post-Treatment Diet Matter?

Your recovery speed and final results don’t just depend on the practitioner’s skill—they’re significantly influenced by what you eat. Certain foods can worsen swelling, prolong bruising, impair collagen repair, or even increase infection risk. Understanding dietary restrictions helps you recover faster and achieve better results.

The following guidelines are based on Rappoel Dermatology Clinic’s years of clinical experience. Always follow your specific post-treatment instructions from the clinic director.

Foods to Strictly Avoid After Treatment

🚫 Alcohol (Avoid for 1 week post-treatment)

Alcohol dilates blood vessels, worsens swelling and bruising, and impairs wound healing and collagen repair. This is especially critical for injection-based treatments and thread lifts, where alcohol can significantly increase bruise area.

🚫 Spicy Foods (Avoid for 3–5 days)

Chili, Sichuan pepper, mustard, and other spicy foods stimulate blood circulation, potentially worsening post-injection swelling, redness, and skin sensitivity.

🚫 Shellfish & Seafood (Avoid for 3–7 days)

Shrimp, crab, shellfish, and other crustaceans are common allergens. Your skin barrier is more vulnerable after treatment, making allergic reactions more likely than usual.

🚫 High-Sodium Foods (Avoid for 3–5 days)

Excessive sodium causes water retention, worsening post-treatment swelling. Avoid processed foods, instant noodles, canned goods, and fast food.

Foods to Temporarily Limit

  • Vitamin E / Fish Oil / Ginkgo Biloba:Stop 1 week before, resume 3 days after treatment. These increase bleeding and bruising risk
  • Ginseng, Dong Quai, and blood-boosting herbs:Stimulate circulation and may worsen bruising. Pause for 1 week post-treatment
  • Caffeine:Moderate intake is acceptable, but excessive caffeine may disrupt sleep, indirectly affecting recovery
  • Excessive sugar:High-sugar diets promote inflammation and impair wound healing

Foods to Eat More Of After Treatment

💧 Plenty of Water

At least 2,000ml of warm water daily to support metabolism and repair. Especially important after skin booster treatments.

🥩 Quality Protein

Chicken breast, fish, tofu, and eggs provide the amino acids needed for collagen synthesis. Especially important after Thermage and Ultherapy.

🥦 Vitamin C-Rich Fruits

Kiwi, citrus fruits, and guava promote collagen production and wound healing.

🍚 Gentle Carbohydrates

Plain rice porridge, oatmeal, and warm soups are ideal during the first 1–2 days when your digestive system may be sensitive.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I drink alcohol after treatment?
For injection treatments, wait at least 1 week. For thread lifts, wait 2 weeks. Alcohol significantly worsens bruising and delays recovery.
Can I drink coffee after treatment?
Moderate consumption (1 cup/day) is fine. However, reducing caffeine in the first few days ensures better sleep quality, which supports recovery.
Are there special dietary restrictions after skin booster injections?
The most important thing after skin boosters is hydration. Avoid spicy food and seafood for 3 days, no alcohol for 1 week. Drink plenty of water above all else.
Can I eat spicy food after Thermage?
We recommend avoiding spicy foods for 5–7 days after Thermage. Spicy foods stimulate circulation and may worsen post-treatment redness and mild swelling.
What foods help me recover faster?
Focus on quality protein (eggs, fish, tofu) and vitamin C (kiwi, citrus). Stay well-hydrated. These nutrients directly support collagen repair and tissue recovery.
Does Rappoel provide post-treatment diet advice?
