Why Pre-Trip Preparation Matters
Many visitors only discover on arrival that they had alcohol the night before, are in their menstrual cycle, or have active skin irritation — causing planned treatments to be postponed. Simple advance preparation ensures you walk into the clinic ready to go, maximizing your limited travel time.
Rappoel Clinic sees many Chinese-speaking visitors from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia each month. Here’s our most-asked pre-visit preparation guide, compiled into one reference.
2 Weeks Before Your Trip
Peak seasons (spring March–May, fall September–November) fill up weeks ahead. Pre-booking also allows the physician to review your concerns and prepare a personalized treatment plan before you arrive.
These thin the skin barrier. Discontinue at least 1 week before injections, 2 weeks before laser or energy-based treatments.
Aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo all increase bruising risk with injections. Discontinue 1 week before treatment if medically appropriate (consult your physician if on prescription medications).
1 Week Before
- ✅ No alcohol: Vasodilation from alcohol increases bruising and swelling risk — avoid for 3 days before injectable treatments
- ✅ Check your menstrual cycle: Avoid injection treatments 2–3 days before and during your period due to reduced platelet function
- ✅ Rest and sleep well: Fatigue reduces healing rate and affects anesthetic response — arrive in good physical condition
- ✅ Avoid intense sun exposure and tanning: Increased melanin compromises laser results and raises post-treatment hyperpigmentation risk
Day-Of Preparation
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Come makeup-free | Makeup must be removed before injections/laser — arriving bare-faced saves time |
| Wear comfortable clothing | Post-treatment mild swelling can make tight necklines uncomfortable |
| Allow 1.5–2 hours | Consultation + treatment + observation — don’t schedule tight back-to-back plans |
| Bring gentle SPF30+ sunscreen | For going outdoors after treatment |
Itinerary Planning by Treatment Type
- Injectables (HA filler / Coretox): Schedule early in your trip (Day 1–2). Mild swelling resolves within 1–3 days.
- Laser treatments: Avoid your last 1–2 days in Korea — post-laser flaking takes a few days to complete.
- Thread lifting: Schedule at the start of your trip — avoid extensive chewing and facial over-expression for 2–3 days post-treatment.
- Body treatments (ONDA): No significant downtime — can be scheduled any time during your trip.
